Busy, but enjoyable weekend

Whew... what a few days.

I had most of this blog done when I got up with Sophie during the night, but there are several little videos, so that takes it a while to upload... and well I didn't wake up until 7:10 this morning!! I jumped out of bed and texted Kyle's mom and asked her to please help me. I told her the door was unlocked, the kids were asleep, their clothes were laid out, and I was in the shower *L*!! Guess what.... we were running, but we made it.... and I got NO time with them :(!! I made up for it this afternoon though.

I thought I would share some pictures of Karter... and his usual morning adventures. Most mornings, he takes everything out from under the sink and "works" on something. I think he's going to be hands on like his Daddy!

Thursday afternoon, KyKy picked Heidi and Karter up from KW and took them to the park. Of course they had fun.... anything is fun with KyKy! While they did that, Kyle, Sophie, and I went to his Uncle David's house. He passed away not long after I wrote the last blog.

H & K were checking out the old pool by the park.

Loves his Sissy

Babee and KyKy gave Heidi a Hello Kitty. If you don't know, that's what she wants her party theme to be.... so she kind of got an early birthday present.

Kyle got off on time Friday too.... Surprise Surprise!! So anyway, when I got home he was outside playing with the kiddos.

Notice what Karter is carrying??? They caught a lizard!!!! YUCK!!!!

Karter did NOT want to let it go!

Can you believe my Heidi girl doesn't mind holding them? She was even playing with worms Saturday..... YUCK!!! I guess it's good to be able to wear pink and do yucky stuff.

Finally talked them into letting him go.

You can't hardly tell, but his tell ended up breaking!

Babee wasn't getting anywhere near that thing.
We then piled in the car and went to Andalusia and ate at Sonic (Heidi said "we don't ever eat at Sonic") and then Wal-Mart. Kyle had to get a new blower.

Saturday morning, Sophie woke up about 6:15.... and then Karter was up by about 6:30.... by 7:15 they were outside playing and I was on my 2nd load of laundry. Did not get finished Saturday. I washed no lie.... right at 7 loads, and have probably a good 4 or so to go.

Spending some quality time with MeMe.

"I wanna push.... I wanna push"

Sophie LOVED the swings.

She absolutely loves her little swing too!!

Karter's just a playing... and Babee's wheels are turning *L*!! She is constantly thinking of something *haha*! She said the swing was crooked, so she was trying to figure out how to make it straight.

Soph liked the trampoline too! Check her spikey hair out :)

They had so much fun with the pink car :)

Saturday starting about 4:30, we had some friends over for supper. It was so nice!! Just always nice to fellowship

We grilled chicken.... super yummy, corn on the cob, and Kyle helped me take the asparagus and wrap it in bacon and back them for about 45 minutes with just brown sugar and cinnamon.

Brayden had him a good time!!

Tiffany and April

Tad and Kayla and of course Sophie Lynne

Trey and Thomas

Karter Man was super attached to MeMe this weekend.

I tell you... Sophie Colquett loves to ride the pink car. Karter never did like the noise. It always scared him. But Soph hangs her arm over the window and just rides and chills.

"Here Comes the Bride..... Here Comes the Bride....."

Sunday morning of course Kyle got called in to go work the Abbeville store.... he got the call about 7:15. It's Sunday right??? Never fails... he will almost always get called out on Sunday. So anyway we had his Uncle's funeral at 2:30. We went to that, the graveside.... by the way Kyle did Awesome on the prayer..... and from there we got Karter (he had been snoozing) and went to the FBC fellowship hall to eat. It was nice, but we didn't get out in time to go to church. :( We missed The Hope and I really wanted to hear them.

So anyway.... I got adventurous and did the rope swing. I should have known Kyle would see that and run over there and sling me.... and yep.... he took advantage!!!

The girls.....

I got a wild hair to drive the girls around. It was fun. They thought it was funny!!! We ended up driving all the way to Meme's.

Then Karter figured out how to do it and he drove and drove and drove..... it was pretty funny I might add!!!

Cindy was saying how she can just tear up picturing Karter driving Heidi during the Homecoming Parade or something.

He's already got the slump down and the tongue out! He's good to go *L*!

MeMe got in some Sophie time!

My handsome hubby!!!

Just a little fight....

KyKy came over to get P90X. He didn't realize I had given it back. So he stayed and played for a few minutes before heading back to Troy.

Me and Lil Tiny

I'm constantly reminding her that she is ONLY 8 months old *L*!! She wants to keep up with the big kids so bad she can hardly stand it.

Oh and she has a ring worm on her back. That's one of the reasons Kyle HATES cats. They are all around our neighborhood, so of course from Spring-Summer we usually all end up getting at least one. I just didn't realize Sophie could get one and none of us have it.

In the 3rd pictures, she is swinging her arms... Tyler just caught it at the right time.

Randy, Kent, and Kyle.... talking about something productive I'm sure.

Josh and Karter Man

I just enjoy sitting back and secretively watching Karter.... and how his mind works.

KyKy was emailing me the pictures

Oh how I love my babies!!

Last night we just hung out and played!!

Being silly

Enjoy the videos.... they are pretty funny to me. They didn't know I was recording them.... and as you can tell Karter puts up a good fight!!

anyway.... I am soooo tired. Gonna hit the sack so hopefully I'll get up earlier in the morning.

Finally Friday

These pictures were taken yesterday morning before we left for the day.

Well some of you already know, but Kyle's Uncle David passed away only a couple hours after he left Wednesday night. He was so glad he got to spend those last few moments with him. The funeral is Sunday and Kyle has been asked to say the prayer at the graveside.

Yesterday evening, Tyler picked up the "big kids" from Kids World and took them to the park. Thankfully Kyle worked in Andalusia yesterday afternoon so he was home before me. When I got off, I picked him up....we got Sophie and headed to his Uncle David's house.

We ended up staying there for a while and then picked up Tyler, Heidi, and Karter and headed to The Ellison's.

Karter "drove us" there. They only live right up the road.

KyKy and Soph
Here are some pictures of the kiddos playing at Jonathan & Amanda's:

Okay and those of you that know CrAzY Amanda, look at what she did to my poor kids..... Sophie looks scared to death *L*!

"My Mama Said...... fat babies can't smile..... I'm a fat baby..... now watch me smile"

Well going home.... Heidi got to drive. She did really well actually.

Of course Heidi and Karter wanted to go home with Babee and KyKy. So Karter rode home with Babee and Heidi rode home with KyKy. So it's just me and Sophie Lynne this morning. Kind of strange!

She wouldn't get the wipe out of her mouth *L*!

She's such a doll!!!
So Happy Friday everyone!! It has been a different kind of week!! Schools under lock down, bad weather, etc..... almost time to relax :)!! Have a great weekend!!!

Enjoy the video. Sophie looks like she's biting him, but she has no teeth!! And notice how she & Karter have the "huh" down!

Kyle's Sick Uncle David

Well it's 9:42pm and Kyle still isn't home. He called me about 4:30 today and said, "It's Wednesday".... I was like yeah.... and???? He said, "I have to go to Hartford to fix something in that store". Every Wednesday it seems the devil has some store call in late with a problem. We knew right then that we wouldn't be able to go to church tonight. It's a lot on me to get the kids from daycare when I get off, get them supper, bathed, etc... and make it to church.

I talked to him about 15 minutes later and his dad had called him and told him that his Uncle David, his Grandaddy's brother (the one that passed away a few weeks after Sophie was born), wasn't expected to make it through the night. He has had several medical issues recently and has been at Flower's Hospital. SO once Kyle got finished with the Hartford store (about 6:30) he went to see him.

It reminded him a lot of seeing his Grandmother when she was in the hospital. His heart rate would drop, and as soon as someone would talk.... his heart rate would speed up. He said when he would "come to" he would talk about being with Morgan (Grandaddy) and riding the tractor or going finish with somebody named Doyle.... and catching big fish.... he would say there are big fish in Heaven. I am sure Mr Colquett and David are about to have them self a Hallelujah time once they are reunited.

Here is a picture of Karter and Grandaddy Colquett 4 days before Sophie was born... so only a few weeks before his death. Karter was 14 months old here.... and of course not walking *L*! Such sweet memories. Kyle said that was the hardest part about seeing David tonight.... just the memories he has of David and Mr Colquett.

So the kids and I hung out at the house!! Heidi Leigh said my boots fit her :)!!

Sophie was getting a little fussy.... so I stuck her in the sink like I usually do when I'm alone(it's just easier for me to be able to put the dishes away, clean the kitchen, and usually wash bottles). Heidi just voluntarily got the stool and said she was going to bathe Sophie. I thought that was very thoughtful. She's such a good Big Sister.

They then shared just a wee little bit of popcorn. She only shared because she had to *L*!

After baths we were playing in the girls' room and while everyone was content, I decided to come wash bottles... about that time MeMe came in. So she hung out with us the rest of the night. We tried to straighten the playroom some.... all the while talking about how sentimental some of the stuff is. There are some things of her boys that she wishes she still had. So of course I want to make sure I keep the important things.

Oh we were under a tornado warning most of the morning... and anyway when I got home from work, Heidi said that they took a nap in the hall. She and Karter did she said! I can just picture all those kiddos cuddled up in the halls.

Anyway..... lunch tomorrow with Meredith and supper with the Ellisons! Looking forward to both.

A Typical Day in the Neighborhood

We have really had a good week so far. Monday night when we picked Heidi up from dance, we headed to my moms to eat supper. She cooked some yummy spaghetti. The kids and I LOVE spaghetti.... but of course Kyle doesn't, so I don't get to cook it often.

Usually when we go to one of our parents houses at night, we take pjs just in case the kiddos get a bath over there. Most of the time they do..... you never know if someone will fall asleep on the ride home.

Sweet Sophie Girl in the tub at Babee's

Karter Man "cheesin' " at Babee's

While I am getting ready in the mornings, the kiddos usually play in my room... destroying it of course *haha*!!! BUT that's okay.... Like Karter's polka dotted sheets :)?

Karter looks big in this picture to me....

Wipe Out!!!

So an update on Karter's sleeping...... he seems to do better on the mattress in our room. He still gets up at least once a night, but he'll generally go right back to sleep. SOOOO who knows Sophie may end up in there with us too *L*! Heidi will usually start out laying with Karter, but she'll wait until we go to sleep and crawl in the bed with us. Seriously~!! I asked her the other morning what happened and she said "Me was laying there thinking of scary stuff and hearing scary sounds"..... so I couldn't let her be scared :)!!!

Yesterday my mom picked the kids up from KW and they went with her to feed the horses. They LOVE to feed the horses. Tyler sent me these pictures from his phone.

Last night I cooked the yummy "gourmet" chicken noodle soup and a home made apple pie and carried it over to my dads for supper. We ended up staying over there pretty late.... but the kiddos were having a good time!

Karter kept carrying around these M&Ms offering them to people.... it was funny because he spilt some and of course when he went to pick those up, he spilt the others *haha*!

He finally found someone that wanted them just as much or probably more than he did *L*!

He wouldn't let me move the dish. (no worries.... I stayed there the entire time.... she didn't eat/swallow one)

Heidi slipped and bumped her head in the bathtub at their house and had to have a band aide. Karter of course then had to have one.

This is funny to me.... perfect camera timing. His face is priceless while taking the band aide off.

Heidi's boo boo

Both boo boos

Aunt Jeanna and Uncle Mark came over and she got her in some Sophie Lovin'!!

I never could get a good picture of Karter and Grandmama throwing the ball.... you can barely see it in her hands.

Something was funny!!!

Laughing with Ky Ky

Here's Karter and KyKy playing.... I love to hear a child laugh.... to me that is the best medicine!!

Anyway.... Happy Wednesday!!

Desperation

I owe this blog to Gunter Akridge. He spoke at one of Ino's Prayer Breakfast sometime last year on Desperation.

As many of you know, Opp Elementary School was under a threat yesterday. At the time, even the school teachers didn't know what was happening. All I knew was that I received a phone call telling me that 5 police cars went to OES because there was a gunman there and they had the school on lock down. I immediately began praying. My heart sunk. I was DESPERATE!!! I was pleading to God for everything and everyone to be okay. Then we went to wtvy.com and they had a news flash of possible shots fired at OES. I then became much more desperate.

I called my mom at OMS and they were under lock down too and really didn't know what was going on at the time. I think many of us were desperate for God then. Thankfully there was no gunman, no shots fired, and everyone was okay.

But it got me to thinking. I talk to God everyday, but as Gunter said, God wants us to be desperate for him all the time. I don't just cry out to God unless I am in a desperate situation it seems. All i could think about yesterday was my best friend and her kindergarten class, and everyone else that I knew at OES and how quickly something can happen. God was in control the whole time.... but I wonder how many people, just like I did..... were desperate for his call!?!?

And then last night I got word that Brittany Shepard Pugh and her one year old son died in a head on collision. I don't even know Brittany, but many of my friends did. She went to school at Troy and all my teacher friends had classes with her. I looked her up on facebook and was looking at all her pictures .... and my heart broke. I didn't know this person, but I wanted to cry. I was pleading to God to be with her family. To be with her husband. He lost his wife and only child all in one night. I was desperate for God to give them strength. I was desperate to God to take care of her family. And it got me to thinking at how I would be if I lost Kyle and my children all in one day. I have thought about this family all night and all morning. God hears my plea!!

**Just remember.... life is short.... real short. Enjoy every day you have. Be desperate for God everyday.
