Cats In The Cradle-Harry Chapin

Okay I thought I would share this song with you. Feel free to play it while you read this. Everytime I hear this song I text or email my dad. We used to always hear it and sing it. It has a lot of meaning. Take time to be with your children. Take time to be with your parents, your family, your friends. Take time to love someone. Before you know it life has gone by and what's left of it? What do you have left? Do you still have friends? Family?

Just remember.... us parents chose to be parents :)!! Spending time with my children is what I look forward to everyday. I don't want them to grow up and wonder where I was their entire life. I don't want them to not have any childhood memories. SOOOO Love life, live life, and enjoy life!

Enjoy the pictures of us tonight :) :

OOpsie..... this first one is actually of Heidi last night..... sooooo pretty!! Playing dress up again :)!

I'm addicted to bike riding. I would absolutely do it everyday if I could and if I could figure out how to ride all 3 kids at once :)! We have a great time riding... and of course it's good exercise.

Tyler picked the kids up from school and went to my dad and Yana's house. When I got off I got Sophie from My dad and Yana's house and she and I went to the grocery store. Once we got the groceries unloaded, Sophie, Kyle, and I rode the bikes to their house and ate supper. It was yummy! The kiddos enjoyed a little dip in the pool.... this picture cut Karter out on purpose :).... they were all skinny dipping *L*!! As my Dad and Tyler said... it seems to be the nudist colony around my children. They love to go without clothes.... and especially love to go skinny dipping *haha*!

So after supper we headed back to our house. My dad and Tyler rode back with us.... so that was really nice. Most of you know where my dad lives. Anyway to come back to our house we go around by the Middle School, the stadium, across Main Street and Gunter Avenue... and then make it to my house. So I guess it's the "long" way, but we really enjoy it.

My little partner gave it up! Bless her :)!! She had her a good little nap.... BUT she had to wake up to get a bath ;)!

Now all of the kids are asleep.... I rocked Kman to sleep and he's now in his bed. Kyle and Soph are still in the recliner :) And Heidi bug is snuggled up beside me on the couch. It's the simple thing in life that matter the most. That's the purpose of this post. To tell you to let loose sometimes..... enjoy the small things. It has taken me a while to realize how important those moments are. I wanted to grow up too fast. And now I see how my parents must have felt. I want my children to stay little as long as possible.

Spend time with your kids!!!

Weekend & Monday already gone.... Whoa Nelly!

I'm telling you, the days just go by faster and faster. We have had a great past few days. I guess everyday except today since the end of last week has been a little yucky. It is funny because like I have said before it is like we don't know what to do when we HAVE to be inside. We LOVE being outside.

The kids love riding the dirt bike with their Daddy. Karter actually fell asleep on it Saturday *L*!

Karter Man on Sissy's little 4 wheeler:

Last Wednesday I had a wonderful lunch date! Amanda, Heidi, Tyler, and My Mom!

I can't seem to get Kyle leaving off my mind. It seems that everything we do now I relate to it. For instance.... he was mowing the yards this afternoon... well he came to talk to me and kept the lawnmower idling... well it all of a sudden starting spewing oil..... What would I have done had that happened to me?? I honestly don't know that I would have reacted as Kyle did and run get a bucket. OR last night there was a HUGE wood spider in the house. I hate spiders... I mean HATE spiders. I don't like to step on them because of the crunch and the goosh *YUCK*.... so what would I have done? Before I would have gotten my courage up to do it, it would have crawled under the dresser.... oh my! And then Josh woke us up about 5 am barking at a silly cat and Kyle got up to tell him to hush.... I'm going to have to start doing THAT if I have to?!?!? AHHHHH My mind seems to be racing 90 to nothing!

Anyway.... just let me tell you... I made a super delicious breakfast last Thursday night. I made pancakes, biscuits, eggs, sausage, and this delightful Omelet with cheese, salsa, and a little sour cream. It was OH SO FINE!!! Tonight's dinner was fried chicken breast, mac n cheese shells, fresh peas, fresh corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and crescent rolls. It wasn't too shabby :)!

Beautiful Heidi Leigh got to spend A LOT of time with her KyKy last week :)!! She sure does enjoy him being home in the summers. Here is a picture he took of her and sent to my phone. She was playing dance recital.

So while Heidi stayed with them.... Kyle and I had an idea to try the babies in opposite beds. Karter WANTED to go to sleep in Sophie's bed. He honestly just layed down in her bed and went to sleep. I really thought because of that it was going to be a good night. Well.... not so much! We had several rough nights last week.... that being one of them. I think he forgot he was in there and woke up SCREAMING!!!!! I ended up being up with both he and Sophie that night... back and forth. Sometimes that makes it hard to function the next morning.... BUT I actually drank a cup of coffee the next morning and I liked it?!?!?!? If you all know one thing about me... you know I HATE coffee!!! I LOVE Cappuccino but HATE coffee.

And here's where he ended up. He eventually wets his bed and most of the time ours. *LOL* Let me tell you.... one day last week Heidi was staying away from home and Karter was in our bed. Well all of a sudden at 4am Kyle JUMPED up out of bed saying that Karter had peed on him. Well I told him that he changed his diaper in the dark so maybe he didn't put it on really well. Well he turned the bathroom light on and Kman had somehow taken his diaper COMPLETELY off!! So his back was facing me and his front facing Kyle and he literally peed all over Kyle. Like a stream of warm water *L*! I laughed and laughed!

Friday night was just a hang out night. It was raining, so Kyle and I both ate cereal for supper and I fixed a corndog for the kids. We had a Netflix movie come in, so Karter and I snuggled on the couch and Kyle and Soph snuggled in the recliner and we watched it.

Oh boy.... okay everyday the kids think they HAVE to have like 10 pop cycles a piece. Sophie has even become addicted to them *L*!!

Well this happened to be the night I was cooking breakfast.... Kyle was outside in a storm working on a boat motor. Well I got to hearing some noises from the bathroom that just didn't sound like innocent behavior *L*! I went in there and there was pee everywhere. Karter had tee-teed in the potty and Sophie was playing ALL in it!!! OH MY YUCK!! Of course she was already wet along with everything else and already had the urine all over her hands... so I had to take a picture.

Sophie is fascinated with pee in the potty and Karter is fascinated with flushing the big potty. His teachers at Kids World say he isn't doing well there. He has no interest. I just don't understand. He does so well at home and even last night we ate Pizza Hut after church and he told us he had to tee-tee so Kyle took him and he went. How can he be potty trained in some places but not in others?

Anyway.... Saturday morning he was walking around with Heidi's head band in his hair saying, "I pretty".... *L*!

This was Saturday before I had their lunch fixed. Kyle hooked Netflix up to the TV and put Bob The Builder on and these two were glued to the TV *L*! He said it was my new babysitter *haha*!

Saturday night we got all dressed up and went to his cousin, Neal's, Cocktail Party in Andalusia. Neal is marrying a beautiful girl named, Anna, in August.... so this was pretty much just like a shower for them. Of course we were like one of the 3 not drinking. We still had a great time though. We were able to hang out and talk with some friends that we haven't seen in a long time.

Before we went to the party, we went by the Hospital and saw our friends, Gregg & Meredith Ramer and met their precious baby boy, Asher. He has got a HEAD full of hair! So precious! She had him Saturday... which was earlier than planned. She was scheduled to do a section on Tuesday. Asher just had other plans :)!! He weighed 8lbs 2 oz and was 21 3/4" long. MUCH bigger than any of their children have been at birth.

I haven't went shopping for me in a really long time. I have a hard time spending money on me and not my kids. So with that being said, everything I own is pretty much dated. The dress I wore Saturday night is actually the dress I wore to homecoming my senior year. After the football game, we went to my house and I changed into this dress for about on hour. That tells you how old it is *L*!

Of course my little Diva Child was ALL about dressing up. She LOVED watching me try on different dresses and of course she had to try on one. She wore this dress all night...!!!

After the party we made our rounds and gathered all the children :)!

It rained most all day Sunday too.... just like a constant misty rain. So we didn't get to play outside yesterday either. Bummer!

Here is Sophie last night in the Nursery :)!! She thinks she is something else. She is getting braver and braver with her walking. Probably another week and she will be full force!

Here's Heidi Bug last night with another fancy dress on :)!! She LOVES dressing up and she loves dangly earrings.

She has all sorts of interesting ways of fixing her hair.... here's one of them : (Tonight it is in a braid and she's wanting it to be curly in the morning). Tyler has been over here all evening and he learned to braid via You-tube. How about that?

Sophie actually enjoyed Heidi "helping" her walk. The walked 'round and 'round this place!

Little Kman:

He is such a sweet little boy.... and he LOVES his Mommy :)!!

Here is a picture of KyKy braiding Heidi's hair:

I was going through some pictures and I found these. I guess H took these of MeMe and Soph with my phone before we left on a bike ride.

Kyle, Tyler, & I rode the kiddos on the bikes to my dads house. My dad got on his bike and rode back to my house with us :)!! It was such a nice day for a bike ride. I really REALLY enjoy it. Great workout too!

Okay here is my rabbit for the night..... I am watching Cake Boss on TLC and OMG they have made this humongous Tranchila (sp?). Why on EARTH would anyone want that for their cake and why would anyone even eat it? That blows my mind. I can't even look at the TV.

Okay tonight the humidifier is hooked up in Karter's room so we are going to see if that helps him.

Anyway.... I hope you enjoy this video of Karter.... He's been saying, "I'm a Man......" I guess he got camera shy *L*!

HUGE Change For The Colquett Household......

Well starting next month, our little family is going to go through a huge change. Kyle will start his new job working on a drilling rig in Korea. He will work 28 days on/off. He is very excited and I guess maybe I am getting there too? I don't know. I have a lot of mixed emotions. I try to always have my cup 1/2 full, but in this case I seem to see more of the cons.

Kyle has been trying to get on offshore for 3 years now. He never thought he would start off overseas and working 28/28. Of course we have prayed about it, talked about it, listed the pros and cons.... and Kyle says the pros out way the cons. Maybe he is right?

It is going to be such an adjustment for not only the children and me, but Kyle as well. He joked and said he was "looking forward to his vacation". HAHA! We have known about this job for about 6 weeks now. Everything is lined up and ready to go.... and his passport should be in by next Tuesday. He had to go to New Orleans to get a physical and had like 6 shots and they had to take 7 valves of blood, xrays, etc.

With his current job, there have been so many nights this past year that the children were in bed when he got home. YES he was here everynight, BUT you are asleep. His current employment cut their hours back to 40 hours when they were guaranteed at least 44 hours per week. Those 4 hours make a big difference in his paycheck. So this new job came at just the right time.

We told Heidi about it last week. She didn't take it so well. She woke up the next day and immediately started crying and she cried the entire way to Kids World. She already missed her Daddy she said. It broke my heart :(!

We are most definitely going to miss him like CRAZY, but at least there will be 4 of us and if you have ever been to our house, then you know there's not a lot of "down" time. With that being said, we are always going to be thinking about him, but not have a lot of time to mope and cry. that is until the children are in bed and I am up all alone with no one to talk to. No one to laugh with. No one to watch TV with. I am going to miss his help. He helps me SOOOO much.... we make a good team. It's going to be hard.... real hard... and if it were this past year, I really don't think I could have made it. With Sophie getting bigger, things are getting easier. We started going over stuff night before last that he does that I need to learn how to do.... like change the air filter, feed ducks/chickens/dogs, the type of food the animals eat, how to weed eat, how to crank something with a pull chord, how to charge a battery if my car goes dead, how to change a tire, how to put washer fluid in the car, OMG killing a HUGE spider *YUCK*, etc. BUT thankfully our parents are WONDERFUL to us and help so much.... so I know they'll be right there if I need them.

Unfortunately he is going to miss a lot of things in our lives. He'll miss school activities, dance recitals, ball games, anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, family gatherings, weddings, etc. His first hitch out he'll miss his cousins wedding and his growing up best friend's wedding. On the flip side, we'll be able to do so much more as a family when he is home. He'll get lots of time with the children. We'll be able to take more vacations. Time when he is home won't be so much of a routine anymore. I know it'll go by so quickly, but we'll just have to make sure to treasure each moment we all have.

So next month it is. He'll leave for school in Houston mid month and from there go to Korea. So his first time out will be more than 28 days. To be very honest with you and myself, I am sad. I am going to cry. I am going to miss my friend. I joked and told him that when he came home don't be surprised if we had a King size bed.... because I'm going to just put Karter and Heidi in here with me *L*! Heidi already is in here and Karter winds up in here. Poor Soph just likes her own bed *L*! He is going to be able to go with me on Heidi's first day of school and take her and pick her up from school a few times before he leaves :)!

We'll have to learn to Skype and do all that fun stuff. And I may need some tips from all of you offshore wives out there. I know it has to get lonely sometimes. And then to remember that not only are they your husband, but they are also a son. And as a mom, I know that his mom is going to miss him like crazy. He is still her baby. I'll have to share him when he comes home :)!!

Okay... anyway.... I think I have chased that rabbit long enough. You may start reading about a lot of venting in the next few months *L*!! But I know and he knows that this is what God has had planned this whole time. We feel at peace about it. I know I had to ask God to send a red bird to me... and when he sent the red bird, I wanted a blue bird to sit by the red bird. When the blue bird came I needed something else. You get me? Finally God is like look this is IT. And because of that, this is why I am blogging. I felt as though it was time to share.

Baby Names..........

I thought it would be neat to do a post on my children's names... like how we decided on those names and what some names were that we talked about naming each child.

#1: Heidi Leigh Colquett
Born: May 1, 2006
Weight: 8lbs 6 oz

* Lola - I wanted to name her Lola soooo very badly, but Kyle just would not agree to it :( Which is why she has a baby doll named Lola.
* Kyleigh - We talked about Kyleigh because well his name is Kyle and my middle name Leigh... we decided not to because we knew someone that had named their daughter Kylie and Kyle's got this thing about having a child with the same name as someone he knows.
* Maddie - We liked Maddie, but that seemed too common.... and it is.. we know lots of Maddie's.
* Carrington - I really liked this name, mostly because it sounded girlie and classy...
* Georgia - After Kyle's Grandaddy George
* Heidi - The reason she is named Heidi is because Kyle came home from work one day and just told me out of the blue that her name was going to be Heidi. He didn't know anyone by that name and it was a name that just popped in his head, so he KNEW that she had to be named Heidi. I was NOT fond of that at all. I didn't like it very much until my baby shower when i got lots of monogrammed things and knew I didn't have a choice now *L*! Her middle name is Leigh which is after my mom and I. We like to put family names somewhere in their names.

#2: Myles Karter Colquett
Born: April 15, 2009
Weight: 7 lbs 14 oz
* Deacon - I wanted Deacon before Kyle told me that his name had to have the initials MKC because of his and his dads initials.
* Karson - I LOVE the name Karson!! I have a cousin that named their son Carson... they live in Crestview and we don't get to see them but maybe twice a year and sometimes not that... so Kyle wouldn't agree to it.
* Myles - I wanted to call him Myles instead off the "K" name. We got Myles from Matthew (Kyle's first name) and Kyle put together. BUT Kyle told me that we had to call him by the K name because of Kent and Kyle... .uggghhhh!!!! pressure *L*!
* Kirk - I just never could like this for my child
* Kamden - For some reason Kyle didn't like Kamden... I am glad he didn't agree to it because there are two Camden's in Sophie's class.
* Kaleb - The reason we didn't do Kaleb is because the McCord's had their triplets 4 months earlier and named one of them Caleb.
* Kasper - OKAY soooo while you are probably chuckling at this name, I really liked it. Kyle of course made complete fun of it!!!
* Heidi finally told his his name was Karter.... and it was like a light bulb went off. We said okay.... that can be spelt with a K.... so he is MKC III.... :)

#3: Sophie Lynne Colquett
Born: June 26, 2010
Weight: 8lbs 3 oz

* Hadley - She was actually either going to be Sophie or Hadley. We were soooo close to naming her Hadley. Meredith actually put that name in my head :)!! The reason we decided against it was because I thought Heidi & Hadley sounded too much alike.
* Harper - I still really like Harper and then I could have used Heidi's "H" stuff. Kyle didn't like it because I have family members with the last name Harper.
* Halle - This is pronounced like Halle Berry. We threw this one up in the air, but it never did sound right to us.
* Reagan - I loved this name.... Kyle on the other hand wasn't too crazy about it. The deal was He named Heidi, Heidi named Karter, so I got to name "this one". *L*!!
* Laela - Kyle actually picked this name out and LOVES it. He still loves this name. The reason I didn't want Laela is because I know someone that has a daughter named Lila and that was too similar.
* Emerson - Oh how I love Emerson.... We had talked about Emerson Morgan... Morgan would be after his Grandaddy Colquett. The reason we opted against it was because my mom said people would make fun of her and say stuff like, "Emerson nice shoes".... get it.... Them are some....
* Farrah - Okay so out of all our names Kyle's two most favorite were Laela and Farrah. I liked Farrah, but I didn't love Farrah and to me that's like naming someone Cher or Shaniah.... ya know?
* Quinn - This was actually another one of Kyle's picks. I just couldn't see Quinn Colquett as a name. Quinn.... Quinn.... Quinn.... just wasn't something I wanted to say FOREVER!!
* Olivia - I still think this is a beautiful name. The only reason we didn't choose this one was because I have a classmate that named her daughter Olivia. Such a pretty name.
* Zoey - I think we just tossed this one up in the air.... but didn't go too far with it.
* Lillie - LOVE the name Lillie/Lily.... BUT we know 3 Lillie's..... so of course that was a NO!!
* Georgia - We actually talked seriously about Georgia again.... BUT not long after Karter was born, someone we know named their daughter Georgia, so that went out the window.
* So finally one day I was going through one of my magazines and I came across the name Sofia... and it just hit me right in the face.... SOPHIE.... Her name is SOPHIE LYNNE.... Lynne is from his mom's middle name. Kyle had actually run to the part store really quick, but I couldn't wait to tell him... so I called him right then *L*!! He still isn't too crazy about her name, but hey he named Heidi *L*! Sophie definitely looks like a Sophie to me :)!!

Anyway.... I thought you might enjoy that little bit of information :)!! Plus I am sure one day I will forget all of those names... so this way I won't be able to forget them *L*!
