She Keeps Us Laughing...Oh & Random Family Fun

Okay so the other day coming home from Kayla and Brayden's, out of the blue Sophie said, "Momma My Daddy Black???".  Now listen we are not a racial family okay..... but I about choked when she asked me that because it was so random.  Anyway I got my composer together and said, "No baby.... your Daddy is white".  Well she argued with me ALL day that her daddy was black.

Finally figured out that she is talking about his hair LOL!!!  We are all blondes, so we are "white"... and he is black.  Y'all we laughed so hard at her.  It's like those wheels in her head just spin constantly.  That's what makes her so funny to us.  She doesn't even try to be funny and she is so random.

So  here is a video that I took right after she told me the first time.  Of course she got side tracked and started talking about riding the school bus.  She will also randomly tell us that she can ride the bus when she's 5 haha!

Kayla had walked in Brayden's room the other day and told me that I had to come get a picture to show Kyle.
Y'all, Monday night I cooked a yummy supper LOL!! Sweet Nana and Grandmama came over to enjoy.  We had roast that had been in the crockpot all day, "china berries" aka english peas, crescent rolls, pasta salad, mac n cheese, deviled eggs, and the next day Kyle opened the microwave to find the delicious mashed potatoes that I forgot to get out :(.  Sometimes it is just nice to have some good ole southern foods minus the fried chicken LOL.
It's hunting season of course.... so our sweet Kyro is enjoying his hunting trips.  So Tuesday night the babies "cooked"  spaghetti.  They love to help me cook.  Granted we usually end up with a mess, but oh the memories we are making.

Tuesday was also election day.  No matter the outcome, we still need to pray for our nation and our leader.

Anyway..... KyKy came over after work because YAY it was his first time getting to vote so I went with him to show him how it works.  It's just overwhelming to me the very first time you go and vote.

I was so proud of him for voting that I made his favorite..... peach cobbler.  It was and still is some kind of fine LOL!!

I fell asleep before the elections were over and when I woke up Wednesday morning, Kyle was telling me about it.  AS we were discussing it, Soph got my Bible and was "reading" to us. Y'all know I had to get a snap shot.  She started the next 4 years out on a good foot :)!
Yesterday was a good day.  We got a carpet sample and estimates on the entire house and each room :).  I still don't know that I want to drop that much at one time on the entire house.  So I'm still thinking 1 room at a time :)!

Anyway Oki came over to play Tuesday after school and Presley came home with us yesterday to play before church.  Those silly girls are at the age where they love having play dates.
Kyle has been trying to train Jaycee and Driller since he has been home.  Jaycee is doing really well actually, but Driller not so much.

Somehow Kyle convinced me that he would "push me easy"... baahaaaa YEAH RIGHT!!! WHAT was I thinking???

And then Sophie Lynne wanted to swing too....  so Kyle was like yeah... just sit right here.  HAHA.... Not a grand idea.  We immediately almost hit the ground.

And the day ended with my fabulous mother in law surprising me with goodies she had picked up to go on the new foyer dresser.  I LOVE them!! She is so good at decorating.  I was so tickled when she put it all together.

Anyway I'll leave you with some funny Sophie videos.  The last two are her just putting on some of her many daily shows.  The first one is after they came home from trying to get a lizard out of the house for Nana.  I love her dramatic expressions LOL!
And of course I can't end without continuing my Days of Thanks.

(6) I am thankful that I live in a country where I can freely vote.
(7) I am thankful for my amazing parents.... I honestly don't know what I would do without them :)!!!
(8) I am also very thankful for my inlaws.  I am so blessed to have such an amazing mother in law.  She really is one of a kind & I am grateful that I have her to call MY MIL!

An Oil Field Wife/ Stay at Home Mom

I have been wanting to do this blog for a while now and have actually been "collecting" different things that I catch me doing now.  Although I have only been a stay at home mom for 3 1/2 months now and an oil field wife (which means I am by myself for 3 weeks at a time), I have noticed several things different in our lives.  I just thought I'd give you some of those LOL!!! Especially now that our kiddos are getting older, all sorts of things change.

* I now buy the biggest carton of Large eggs the store has.
* 1 can of any kind of veggie is not enough for our family anymore.
* I make our bed EVERY day now.  It is a MUST! I missed the kids bed today, but usually I make it as well.
* I vacuum at least 3 times a week now.
* I find myself often writing the grocery list with a crayon.  I even had to sign something of Heidi's for school in a crayon and one in a pencil because I couldn't find a pen anywhere.
* Early on I found myself taking a shower, washing my hair, and putting on makeup just to go to Freds.
* No joke..... not too long ago Kyle's mom watched the babies while I got a shower.  I took the longest shower ever and thanked her so much for that mini vacation LOL! That is seriously what it felt like.
* I rarely sit down during the day.
* I especially make sure everything is clean the day Kyle comes home.  I even scrubbed our kitchen cabinets Thursday.
* I now find myself putting on foundation if I have someone really important to go.  Like the IGA :)!
* Tshirt and jeans or jogging pants are my new daily attire.
* I will admit I have gone without a shower for a day since being home.  I just forget that I haven't had one.
* I am able to stay up on laundry and ironing and love that.
* Some days when company comes over, it is like a breath of fresh air.
* Just gonna be honest, there are some days that the kids are just flat out tired of me and I am tired of them.
* I tote my cell phone around with me everywhere I go until I get that 1 phone call a day from Kyro.  I have missed it several times and it makes me so sad :(!

BUT I wouldn't trade any of it for anything :)!! Very blessed to have this opportunity.

I want to end it with a poem that tells it all!!!
An Oilfield Wife:
An oilfield wife must be a strong woman,
For she has to be the mom and dad for most of the year.
An oilfield wife keeps her phone close because she never wants to miss that special call.
An oilfield wife doesn’t get to kiss her husband goodnight every
night,
An Oilfield wife has to deal with everything while her oilfield man is
gone,
An oilfield wife will do two birthday’s parties and two Christmases a
year,
So the oilfield man can be there for one of
them.
But most of all an Oilfield Wife will go to bed alone most of the year and sleep on her husband’s pillow, and thank god
She has a strong man that is willing to sacrifice his life for
her.

Wonderful past few days....

We have had a really great past few days :)!  This past Thursday we kept sweet Kaidi Bug.  I think Karter and Sophie enjoyed someone "different" to play with besides themselves LOL!  Kaidi fit right in with us :)!

I love these pictures of them.  They were watching Scooby Doo in these pictures.  Look how intent their faces were while they watched.
And Soh is playing with "Tangled" 's hair here :)!
HAHA And they were checking out their blue cotton candy tongues.... LOL

Thursday was a very exciting day for us all around.  We knew that Daddy was coming home that night :)!  So that helped our day go by so much easier.  Heidi had dance Thursday evening and it ended up being parent night :)!

That is her actually beside the girl the teacher is helping.

After dance we ate at mom's house and then homeward bound to see Daddiro :)!  He ended up beating us home and it was soooo exciting coming home knowing he was there.  Heidi and I raced inside to see who could hug him first hehe!  I won of course LOL!!

And then he helped me get the babies out.  Look at the excitement on their faces :)!! So priceless!
So I am sure you have heard of "No Shave Novemeber".  Well  I am not really sure what it even means, but Kyle insists that he is participating.  I can't stand it LOL!  His beard is sooo thick & his hair is so thick and bushy.  He says it'll keep him warm for Hunting Season.  OH MY!

And this was my sweet view later on that evening.
Friday we of course went to the Pep Rally :)!! We also took Presley and Hank.  So sad that it was the last pep rally of the season.
HAHA Me and Soph once again being silly.  She constantly tells me to "take our picture".... goodness I can only have so many pictures of us being silly.

Friday night we got ready for our yard sale that was on Saturday.  Precious Shelly Kate and Miley Grace stayed with MeMe, so the kiddos very much enjoyed playing with them Friday night and Saturday.

Love this picture of them pushing Sophie around.  She fit so perfectly down in it and the funny thing is, when she was in it.... she wouldn't say a word.  So it was kind of nice LOL!
Friday night Karter wanted to stay with MeMe too.  She sent me this picture of him telling "monster stories" to them.  She said it was so funny.  His face looks like he was in to it too :)!
We did well at our yard sale :)!  I guess.... according to Kyle anyway.  He sold everything to someone, so to him that was good.  He wanted it all out of our way LOL!

During the yard sale, at some point Heidi and Shelly Kate hung posters in her room.  She said that she got them from some magazine that her Babee bought her LOL!

Sophie went up to this one and said, "That's Ever" hehe!  How she knows that Taylor Swift sings that song is beyond me.
Of course Heidi loves One Direction.
And Selena Gomez :)!
After the Yard Sale Saturday we went to Heidi's friend, Meredith's, house for her birthday party.  They had so much fun painting and making pizza.

She of course had to wear her "Alabama" shirt to show her Bama Pride.
We went back to MeMe's after the party to play some more with MG and SK and anyway.... Sophie had pulled MG's hair.  Well I went to find Sophie and couldn't find her.  She had crawled in the tanning bed and was hiding in the back of it.  That joker is a mess!

The thing is when she is hiding she is really hiding.  She rarely will breathe a word.
:) this was yesterday... we rode with Daddy to deliver some hay and while he went in the store we had some fun girl time :)!
Yesterday afternoon was great.  Our house looked like a tornado had come through because of everyone in and out from the yard sale, so we got that all cleaned up!  You know it was driving this Momma crazy.

The kids were so excited to go to MeMe's after church last night.  There was someone for them to meet :)!!  Hank, the standard Poodle.  He is soooooo sweet and precious.  I have to admit that I even liked him a little LOL!! And I am NOT a dog person.  But Hank doesn't shed.  I like that hehe!

Anyway Hank went home with Shelly Kate and Miley Grace and the first thing the kiddos did this morning was ask about Hank.
He is only 4 months old and look how big he is.

So as you can tell it was a fabulouso weekend.

I cannot end the blog without catching up on my thankfulness :)!

(2) Very thankful for my amazing hubby.  So thankful that God kept us together all these years.  He is a wonderful father to our children and wonderful Christian man.  Love him with all of my heart.
(3) Unbelievably thankful that on May 1, 2006 we welcomed Heidi Leigh Colquett.  She brought such joy to our lives and is the sweetest, most caring child.
(4) On April 15, 2009 I am so thankful that God blessed us with a precious little boy, Myles Karter Colquett, to be Heidi's brother.  He is so handsome, mild tempered, and so sweet.
(5) Oh boy.... haha JK!! Although Sophie Lynne is the most hot tempered, meaness, most surprising child we have, I cannot imagine life without her.  I am thankful that on June 26, 2010 God knew what we needed in our lives.  She is so full of life and brings much laughter to all of our family.
