Scariest Thing in My Life..... Far Worse Than Childbirth!

Last week we took a fabulous and much needed family vacation to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  The only down side to the entire trip was our driveway.  The drive up the mountain was pretty rough.  The Tahoe was worked over time that's for sure.  But our drive way was unbelievable.

The first day we got there Kyle ended up backing my moms car up the drive so that she would just have to pull forward when she drove again.  We took my car everywhere we went  since we could all fit in it.  The only thing with that was us getting in at night and there was no chance in backing up the steep drive at night.  Once we got up the drive, we had to park entirely too close to moms car to avoid falling off the cliff on the other side.
Here are some pictures of the drive before the rain and snow.....
Doesn't really look that bad here huh?
Just to show the steepness..... of everything.... I took this from the front porch down to the driveway.
It rained all day Tuesday and we knew there was a 100% chance of snow Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.  So we were prepared for everything..... except the back down the driveway.  We never could prepare for it.  We barely got up the drive forward in the rain because of spinning out.  This was the view out mine and Kyle's bedroom window when we woke up.  Excitement was an understatement.
View from the porch down to the drive and road.  Poor Kyle was trying his best to shovel all the snow out of the drive.
He is such a trooper!

By the time we got the cars loaded down the snow had already covered the drive way back up :(....

View from car down the drive
I know the videos don't usually work from phones, but you really got to get to a computer and watch this craziness.  I video'd mom, Tyler, and Sophie as they went down.... pretty much smooth sailing.
I told Tyler he may want to video what was about to happen.
Notice how close to the wall we were getting?  That was the problem.  We had the cement wall on one side and the cliff on the other.  And because of the snow and ice it made it impossible to back straight down.  Kyle's mom road with us, and I have to agree with her.  We knew we would get down, but we honestly didn't think we would get down without a damaged Tahoe.

Kyle asked us to not scream.  Made him more nervous.
Karter said he couldn't watch.  So he kept 1 eye closed and 1 eye open haha.
The next 2 videos are ones Tyler took.  He got so scared that he got out of Moms car to try to "help" us.  I love this first video of he and Mom trying to "help" us get down from her car haha.

It was like with every inch back we had to take 2 more inches forward to avoid hitting the wall.

It was bad.  SO BAD.  I honestly have never been this scared.  Like ever.  Words cannot even explain how nerve racking it was.  From now on I will most definitely ask about the drive way before booking haha.
